The world premiere of this system was also used in the company's own rooftop installation at the Schwäbisch Gmünd location. Whether on a car or on a roof, sheet metal is put to the test. It must be lightweight yet stable, ideally shaped and corrosion-resistant, easy to assemble, and produced in an energy-saving way. Voestalpine Automotive Components Schwäbisch Gmünd GmbH & Co. KG possesses this expertise and has developed an innovative mounting system for photovoltaic panels, thus establishing a new business segment. Instead of consisting of many elements, iFIX is made from a single deep-drawn part. This not only makes it quicker to assemble but also easier to store and handle. Thanks to the patented click connection, installers can work without tools. The sheets are deep-drawn from CO₂-reduced steel at the company site. They can be packed tightly and therefore require less space in storage and on a truck. The smart mounting system can be seen on the roof of the Voestalpine building in Schwäbisch Gmünd since 2022: A PV system installed there generates up to 1,800 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and saves hundreds of tons of CO₂.
